Unique Cultural Drinks
Turkish cuisine has a rich beverage culture and there are
many traditional Turkish drinks. The most famous of these are;
Turkish tea, ayran, Turkish coffee, boza and
raki. For Turks, these drinks are generally
symbols of socialization and hospitality. For this project, we
decided to focus on the two most consumed beverage types.
Turkish Tea
Turkish tea is an indispensable part of daily life and is
usually made from black tea leaves. While Turkish tea is being
brewed, the tea leaves in the upper part of the teapot steep as
the water in the lower part comes to a boil. This process
typically takes 10-15 minutes. While serving,
dark and light colored teas are presented
respectively. Served hot in thin glasses,
Turkish tea can be drunk with or without sugar and accompanies
social events and conversations.
Raki
Raki is known as an indispensable combination of Turkish
cuisine and is generally preferred in coastal areas and seaside
taverns. Raki table combines with traditional Turkish music,
appetizers and dances and becomes a special ritual, which
further strengthens social interaction. Water and ice are
usually added to raki. Water brightens the flavor of raki and
dilutes the high alcohol content, softening the drink and giving
raki its white color. Ice keeps the drink
cool.
This table is a social activity where daily
problems are forgotten. The main purpose at this table is
to stay in the moment and enjoy that
moment. Drinking slowly for a long duration, and
breathing the alcohol to get more
fragrant aromas from our drink.
Ideation
The served tea can be adjusted as dark or light according
to the drinker's taste, due to the
two-piece teapot.
Tea glasses are
generally made of transparent thin glass material. In this way,
while balancing the amount of tea and water by looking at the
color of the tea, the shape of the glass keeps
the drink inside warmer for a longer time.
Many drinks, such as Raki, are mixtures of alcohol and
cocktails. As a result of our research and experiments on taste,
adding alcohol to the cocktail by
slowly dropping it allows the taste to be
more intense, that is,
brewing the flavor.
You can
experience following the process and
staying in the moment while creating the
desired taste with the help of an infuser, just as stalactites
drip and form stalagmites in underground caves.
Prototype
Rotation function and fluid flow experiment.
Design
Muove, consists of a family of products that could be used for multiple functions.
The alcohol infuser drips the alcohol, also focusing on the color change when alcohol drips into the carafe.
